PARENT & STUDENT HANDBOOK

Welcome to Tenuto Teaching Studio

Thank you for choosing Tenuto Teaching Studio. We believe music education should be personal, inspiring, and purpose driven. Every student who joins Tenuto is paired with an exceptional instructor and receives a customized learning experience designed to support meaningful musical growth.

Whether your goal is to build confidence, prepare for auditions, perform at a high level, or simply enjoy making music, we are honored to be part of your journey.

The Tenuto Method

Every student begins with a complimentary Discovery Consultation where we learn about their goals, interests, experience level, and learning style.

Students are then matched with the instructor best suited to help them succeed and enrolled in a customized Music Development Program that includes:

  1. Personalized Learning Plans

  2. Weekly Private Instruction

  3. Progress Tracking and Goal Setting

  4. Student Showcase Opportunities

  5. Recording Project Opportunities

  6. Ongoing Mentorship and Support

At Tenuto, every lesson has a purpose, every goal has a plan, and every student has a path.

Attendance & Consistency

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in student success.

Musical growth is the result of steady effort over time. Students are expected to attend lessons regularly and communicate scheduling conflicts as early as possible.

We strongly encourage families to treat lesson times as important weekly appointments and prioritize consistency throughout the program.

Lesson Rescheduling

We understand that illnesses, emergencies, and unexpected conflicts occur.

Families are asked to provide at least 24 hours notice whenever possible.

Lessons will be rescheduled with the instructor whenever possible. A lesson will only be considered forfeited after two documented attempts by the instructor to reschedule have gone unanswered.

Unused lessons expire at the conclusion of the enrolled program term unless otherwise approved by Tenuto Teaching Studio.

Student Expectations

Students who experience the greatest success are those who actively participate in their own development.

Students are expected to:

  1. Practice consistently between lessons.

  2. Arrive prepared and on time.

  3. Maintain their instrument and lesson materials.

  4. Bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

  5. Take ownership of their musical growth.

Remember:

Consistency beats intensity.

Even 15 minutes of focused daily practice can produce remarkable results over time.

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit."
— Aristotle

Parent Partnership

Parents play a vital role in a student's success, particularly during the early stages of musical development.

We encourage parents to:

  1. Support consistent practice habits.

  2. Celebrate progress and milestones.

  3. Encourage perseverance through challenges.

  4. Maintain instruments and necessary accessories.

  5. Communicate openly with instructors.

Our most successful students are often supported by families who actively participate in the learning process.

Instruments & Materials

Students should maintain their instrument in good working condition and ensure they have all required materials for lessons.

Examples may include:

1. Method books
2. Reeds and accessories
3. Music folders
4. Practice journals
5. Pencils and notebooks

A quality instrument combined with consistent practice creates the strongest foundation for success.

Showcases & Recording Projects

Throughout the year, students may have opportunities to participate in showcases, recording projects, and masterclasses.

These experiences are designed to:

  1. Celebrate student achievement.

  2. Build confidence and stage presence.

  3. Document growth and progress.

  4. Create meaningful musical milestones.

Our Commitment

At Tenuto Teaching Studio, we are committed to providing a supportive, encouraging, and inspiring environment where students can develop confidence, creativity, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of your musical journey and look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
